Transversal Competences for Employment and Profile of Excellent University Students

Abstract The relationship between the field of training -university- and the working environment is absolutely essential. The university must train its students to satisfy the needs of society, to build knowledge and to develop critical thinking but it cannot elude the commitment to prepare competent professionals. This paper shows the growing interest in researching on the labour insertion of graduates. The concept of competence is analysed and the differences between generic and specific competences are studied.
